Oscillator

A device that makes a periodic (or constantly repeating) waveform at a specified frequency range. The frequency rate of those repetitions determines the waveform’s pitch.

Oscillators are generally used to create musical tones whose sounds are later modified by filters, amplifiers, and modulators.
